Hi, I’m Chelsea.
I spend a lot of time with food — cooking it, eating it, talking about it, thinking about it. Sharing a meal with the people I love makes me happy, whether that means having friends over for Saturday tacos or gushing to coworkers over the bomb dinner I had the night before. This blog is an extension of that. It’s another way to share my happy with the world.
When it comes to food, my household runs on the belief that homemade is almost always better. In fact, it seems like many people my age are moving away from the Little Debbies (delicious) and Hamburger Helper (also delicious) that we grew up with and toward cleaner, fresher, healthier foods. And between my husband’s family history of heart disease and my own heart issues — I had open heart surgery in February 2019 to repair two rare birth defects — eating healthy is important to us.
However, I refuse to eat salad for every meal. I will not compromise on flavor. And if I want a cookie every now and then, I’m going to eat the most ooey gooey chocolate chippy dang cookie I can find. So, that’s what you can expect from this blog. Delicious and (mostly) healthy recipes.
Full disclosure: My husband and I don’t have kids yet. It’s just us and the real ruler of the house, our dog, Annie. That means coming home from work and whipping dinner up from scratch is easier for us than it is for many others. But it can still be a challenge. I try to simplify the process as much as possible while also keeping things creative. For a peek into what that process looks like on a weekly basis, check out the Tips page.
